Black Jack Volume 1 by Ozamu Tezuka YP FIC TEZUKA

From the creator of Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion (the inspiration for the Lion King)
comes Black Jack a two-fisted, outlaw surgeon with a hidden past and a scarred body. Black Jack is the most gifted surgeon in the world but operates without a license and outside the law. He is called in only the most desperate of cases and works for outrageous fees. He is hated and feared by many, but is really a heroic doctor that often works for free to save the most hopeless patients and fights with his own life on the line any that threaten those in his care. This volume has exciting stories like the man with the killer face, a computer that takes a hospital hostage, a tumor with psychic powers, and many more.

Ozamu Tezuka is called the “God of Manga” because he revolutionized how manga (Japanese Comics) were drawn and how stories were told. He wrote in every type of genre and influenced manga writers and artists past and present. Black Jack is one of his most popular and interesting characters. The comics look at themes that were important in the world at the time and remain important today. This is an excellent collection to get started reading Tezuka’s work. If you are at all interested in manga then this is a must read and if you think you might be interested in manga then I’d give this a shot.
